Gamma Gamma: Philanthropic Efforts
"To think in terms of all mankind and our service in the world."
At the Gamma Gamma chapter, we hold our philanthropy (Breast Cancer Education and Awareness) near and dear to our hearts. 1 in 8 women is diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime; we will keep fighting alongside these women until 1 in 8 becomes none.
Philanthropic efforts at UTEP:
- Pick Pink 5K: an annual walk in El Paso where the community comes together to bring awareness to breast cancer and participate in a run/walk 5K. UTEP ZTA run the survivor's tent, where breast cancer survivors can stop by for fun activities, snacks, and drinks.
- Pink Week: a week of tabling on campus to raise awareness, education and donations for breast cancer. Come out and "Pie a ZTA," play fun games, and learn about how you can assess your risk for breast cancer.
- Pink Out Games: we team up with UTEP athletics and host pink out games for many different sports. We pass out pink ribbons to all in attendance to promote awareness. We also answer a lot of questions from many of the fans who are curious who we are and what we do! Everyone is encouraged to wear pink!
- Big Man on Campus: a talent extravaganza, where the winner is titled "Big Man on Campus." All proceeds go to our philanthropy.
- Hoops For A Cure: an annual basketball tournament, in which all proceeds go towards our philanthropy. Come out and play some basketball for a good cause!
- Survivor Baskets: we all pitch in to make "feel good" baskets for survivors.
- Raffles: we often host raffles, where all proceeds go towards our philanthropy.
